Telemundo has officially announced the return of Kate del Castillo in La Reina del Sur 2 which is set to premiere exclusively on Telemundo on April 22nd.

Kate will reprise her role as Teresa Mendoza in the series that was shot on location in seven countries and takes place eight years later.

Powerful drug trafficker Teresa Mendoza now lives in anonymity in Italy as “María Dantes” while raising her daughter Sofia. However, her life takes an unexpected turn and she will have to do the impossible to reclaim her throne as La Reina del Sur.
