Cuban born, Miami raised and now LA based DJ and producer MAAHEZ recently released his first single as an artist titled “Papeles” which features a new wave of Latin artists: Spanish singer, songwriter and guitarist Alej, Puerto Rican trap pioneer Lary Over, Dominican-American singer, songwriter, dancer, and Miami music scene mainstay Yashua — who was also a breakthrough on the singing competition La Banda — and Honduran trap and dancehall talent Menor Menor. The single, which is now available, combines elements of tropical house, reggaeton and hip hop.
MAAHEZ is known for being a DJ and a producer that has worked with several well known artists, but this single marks his entrance into the music scene as an artist signaling the start of what could be the new face of Latin Urban Music.
Because of the release, we caught up with him in West Hollywood to chat about his new single and career. We met MAAHEZ in Miami a few years ago so it was great to see and chat with him again now that he’s based in Los Angeles. Check out our interview below as he shares with us how this single came about and how he teamed up with these artists, as well as what’s next for him.
