Last week we made it out to the Los Angeles screening of the Puerto Rican film “Sol de Medianoche” (Midnight Sun); film which premiered earlier this year in Puerto Rico. The film stars singer and actor Pedro Capó as Manolo, a private detective who specializes in adultery cases that spies and records the affair of two old friends while remembering the events that led to the murder of his twin brother. It’s a great film and also a film of great quality despite the budget that it had. It was filmed completely in Puerto Rico and includes numerous boricua actors. Definitely, a movie you need to check out. Don’t worry if you missed it in PR or LA because the movie is showing on HBO Latino and HBO Now; so there’s no excuse to not watch it.
Check out the trailer below and my interview with Douglas Sanchez, the director of the film, and Nadia Barbarossa, producer of the film. We talked about the movie and how it was affected not only by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico but also by the earthquake in Oaxaca, Mexico. We also talk about the future of the film industry in Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria. Please note that the interview is in Spanish and I apologize for the background noise. While you’re at it, subscribe to our new YouTube channel as we will be bringing you more interviews!
Enjoy!
